Race Day Logistics
Sunday, May 19, 2013 -- Livonia High School, 6 Puppy Lane, Livonia NY 14487
Race Day Arrival in 4 easy steps:
This section contains information that is important to parents/guardians and to the athletes. Reading and following these directions will help insure that race day will be easy and enjoyable for kids and adults alike. (1) PARKING The first thing you're going to want to know is where to park. All parking lots on school grounds will be open for parking. There will be two road closures:(1)The road immediately in front of the high school will be closed as the Transition area and Check-In tent will be located here.(2)The Bulldog Blvd entrance to the school will be closed on race day from 9:45 AM onwards, so please enter through the entrance to the High School via Route 15. (2) CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION You've arrived and we are excited that you are here! The next step to begin Race Day is to proceed to the Check-in Table with a parent/guardian to pick-up your registration packet. (You will not need your bike at the Check-in table). Check in will begin at 8:15 AM and check-in timing will close based on the start time for your age group. Please check Race Day Schedule prior to Race Day for check-in closing times. At Check-In you will be given: Race numbers must be pinned to the FRONT of the athletes shirt, or otherwise displayed on the front of the body for the bike and run portions of the race (they cannot, however, be worn into the pool!). The T-shirt is a reward for all athletes. We hope you will all wear it with pride to show that you competed in the 1st Annual Little Lakes Triathlon. The next step will be to move down the line to the Chip Table where your timing chip will be attached to you. The chip is critical as it will be electronically timing your individual progress on the course. Next to the Check-in table will be the Body Marking area. In this area, your race number will be written on your body (arm and leg) with marker and will be used as an identifier during the race. **Please allow yourself plenty of time prior to event start. We expect over 200 athletes at this event!!! (4) TRANSITION AREA Once you have completed Registration. It's time to head over to the Transition Area with your bike and all of the gear that you will want to leave in the Transition Area for the race. There will be 3 entrances to the Transition Area located on the side nearest the Parking Lot and each will be marked with an age division. Enter through your Age Division entrance and there will be volunteers to direct you to the correct area. Parents are welcome in the Transition Area to help you set up. Once the race starts, we will ask that parents stay out of the Transition Area. All of the items that you will need for the race should be left in your allotted space in the Transition Area - your allotted space will be just large enough for your bike, so you won't have much room. And remember, you will be leaving your running sneakers and running/biking clothes in the Transition Area, so you may want to bring an extra pair of shoes and shirt sweatshirt that you will not be wearing in the race to walk around in prior to your race start (otherwise you will be barefoot and in your bathing suit, which is totally ok! We just don't want you to be cold!!). What to leave in the transition area: *This is only a suggested list of needed items. If weather is rainy or cold, more foul weather clothing may be needed or, if nice, you may also want sunscreen. What to take with you to the start: Yourself - this is important! - wearing your swimsuit Before you leave the Transition Area, take the time to remember where your bike is parked. You will be running into the Transition Area from the swim and need to be able to find your bike to begin the bike leg of the event. Many volunteers will be marshalling the Transition Area and Course to ensure the safety of the athletes...and to point them in the right direction! If you have any questions at any time, please dont hesitate to ask a Volunteer at any time. Volunteers will have identifying pinnies. (4) SWIM/RACE START LINE UP & BRIEFING: OK, if you have reached this point, you have your bathing suit on, cap and goggles in hand (if you plan to wear them) and are ready to get this race started! Please report to the "Swim/Race Start Area" (fenced in area near entrance to pool) at the start time for your specific age group. Swim/Race starts will be done by age group, beginning with 7th & 8th graders. At 9:45 AM, all 7th and 8th graders should report to the Swim/Race Start Area near entrance to the pool (outdoors). Please see Start, Finish and Transition Area Map for reference. Other age groups, please refer to Race Day Schedule, which will be added to website prior to Race Day. Athletes will be lined up by number in the Swim/Race Start Area and will proceed directly from here into pool. There will be a short race briefing to review the rules for the day and answer any that you may have. Once this is done, it is off to the races. We hope you have a good race today, but above all a great time participating! Remember...Start for fun, finish for fitness!
Goggles or cap if you will use them during the swim
