Swim * Bike * Run
"Building health, self-esteem, and self-confidence in a safe community environment"
The following are policies that apply to the running of the Livingston County Little Lakes Triathlon:
Age Group Starts
The parent/guardian is responsible for getting the athlete to the event with sufficient time to be ready for his/her swim start. The race will be run by age group, so missing the start time will mean missing the event. The organizers will try to accommodate any unusual circumstances but there is no guarantee that such can be done.
Swim aids such as kickboards or flotation devices will be allowed. However, athletes using swim aids will not be eligible for podium awards (i.e., 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in age group). All athletes will get a participation medal. Athletes must provide their own swim aids. No performance enhancing devices such as fins will be allowed.
Adult Swim Assistance
Adult swim assistance will be permitted but assisted athletes (other than physically challenged athletes) will not be eligible for podium awards (i.e., 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in age group).
Training wheels will be allowed.
Athletes not finishing the event will receive a participant's medal. Non-finishers will have no posted times.
Athletes short-cutting the course or engaging in any other unsportsmen-like conduct will be disqualified from the race. Disqualified athletes will not receive a participation medal nor have their times posted. The Little Lakes Triathlon is intended to be a fun event. Athletes and their parents are expected to be supportive, encouraging, and helpful to their fellow competitors.
The event is open to children in grades 3-8th as of May 2010.
Physically Challenged Athletes
The parent/guardian of a physically challenged athlete should contact the event organizers to make arrangement for any special needs.
For the 2009 event there are no relay teams. Only one athlete is permitted per race number.
There are no refunds for the event after April 15th.
Transition and Finish Corral Areas
No parents or guardians are permitted in the Transition Area and Finish Corral during the race except for special circumstances. Parents and guardians will be allowed into the transition area before start of the race to help their athlete set up bike and transition area equipment. Once the race is in progress, volunteers will be present to assist the athletes and to restrict access. Permission to enter to assist an athlete must be granted by the entrance monitor. This restriction is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all of the athletes.
